Pocket Rogue is a traditional roguelike that’s perfectly adapted to Android smartphones. The game offers a similar experience to that of the great classics of its genre but in your Android smartphone. Your objective is to venture through a dungeon that’s packed full of enemies and other dangers, in order to find the treasure that’s hidden in the last level.
Controls in Pocket Rogue are really well-adapted to smartphones. The direction buttons are located on the lower part of the screen. Use these buttons to move your character freely and easily trace diagonals. Right next to the direction buttons you’ll find the rest of the buttons. You can use them to access your inventory or skip your turn. Skipping your turn is super useful when you’re nearby a dangerous enemy.
As the genre dictates, Pocket Rogue presents a difficult challenge with a bunch of situations where your enemy or any trap can put an end to your adventure. That’s why one of the first things you should do to dominate the game is to learn the nomenclature. For example, the ‘at sign’ (just like in the rest of the roguelikes) represents your character. Similarly, the letters represent the monsters.
Pocket Rogue is a super entertaining roguelike that’s really well-adapted to Android smartphones. Although it’s a considerable challenge, it’s a lot more accessible to than other classics of the genre such as Rogue, Moria or Nethack.
